We're hiring! - Roastery Assistant

Carrow Coffee Roasters is a small and expanding business that is committed to exceptional coffee. We roast a range of ‘single-origin specialty coffees’, meaning 100% Arabica beans of the highest quality that come from a single farm or small area. Our coffees vary from season to season and are carefully sourced from small-scale producers in Africa and Latin America. As well as this direct link, we hunt out coffees that have been grown without artificial fertilizers and pesticides whenever possible. We favour a light-to-medium roast that allows a bean’s intrinsic flavour to shine through. Our roastery is located on a family farm in Beltra, Co. Sligo.

Single-origin Coffee Cupping @Milligram Coffee - Sligo

Single-origin Coffee Cupping @Milligram Coffee - Sligo

Join us for a single-origin coffee cupping event @ Milligram Coffee in Sligo town, on Sunday November 10th from 11am-12.30pm.

Andrew is Carrow’s head roaster and a qualified Q Grader. He will explain the role of sensory analysis in coffee - essentially how we can perceive and name different flavours found in the cup and why it's worth doing. As part of this we'll explore the importance of aromas and spend some time developing our 'olfactory libraries'.

A roasting summer in the West

A roasting summer in the West

Hello! Since our last blog back in February we’ve had a few exciting and intense months setting up our new roastery space on the farm where we live. It’s included the refurbishment of a wooden shed and the installation of a new Probatone 12-kg roaster that miraculously made it over from Germany undamaged, despite various adventures along the way. The machine is a beauty and we love it!

New year, new coffees!

New year, new coffees!

This is our first blog since we’ve been back in Ireland and lots of exciting things have happened since then. We started exploring the possibility of setting up a coffee roasting business during our time in Colombia and were thrilled to finally launch Carrow Coffee Roasters and start selling our coffee bags at local markets and shops throughout Sligo last November. And the response has been very positive! We plan to bring you regular insights and stories about the coffees we’re roasting on this page, so stay tuned! This month we have two new coffees, a bright Colombian and a fruity Rwandan, both light roasted and recommended for filter.
